There are lots of products that enable you to listen to music legally for no charge, each with their own ups and downs. Nevertheless, Spotify is a genuinely great product.
While its closest rival, Last.FM has lots of its own great functions, Spotify also has lots of exclusive and defining features... For example Playlists that integrate with your social networks, Last.FM Scrobbling, and the ability to buy the MP3's of songs. To elaborate, after building up your playlist of your songs, you can share it via social networking sites such as Facebook. If you have got any friends on Facebook who have also enabled sharing on Spotify, you will see their favourite songs too!. Despite being a major competitor, Spotify have enabled you to scrobble (share your played songs) to Last.FM. Last.FM is a service that will play music which is similar to the songs you have listened to in the past, so while technically different to Spotify it still serves a similar objective.. Sadly, Spotify is all based in its own player, meaning you aren't able to copy the MP3 file, so you can't put it on an MP3 player or iPod. Nonetheless, for a small fee you are able to obtain the MP3 for any song of your choice although it is not available for some songs).
However there are some drawbacks, which include audio adverts every 6 songs or so, and tons of visual adverts in the actual software.
Overall, to conclude Spotify is definitely a good product, and despite the disadvantages it has tons of distinctive characteristics that will keep you returning for more.
